Every day at the nursery
is different but a typical day would include some of the activities
below. |
Babies
We welcome the babies as they arrive at the nursery and let
them play together. We all join in with music and singing. While
some of the babies begin their morning sleep, we give the others
time to play and try out creative activities. We interact with
the babies as they use floor toys and baby equipment such as
rattles, board books and baby gyms. We feed babies throughout
the day, according to their individual needs. After lunch is
quiet time when we encourage the babies to use play mats or
read with them. |
 |
| While some of the babies
have their afternoon sleep, we continue to play and interact
with the others. A chance for creative play as we all explore
new experiences such as jelly play, painting and early printing.
We continue to play together as mums and dads start to arrive
to collect their children and we give parents feedback on what
their baby has done during the day. |

Toddlers
We welcome the children as they arrive at the nursery and let
them have time to explore and use their imagination as they
play with construction toys, water, sand and paints. The children
have their mid-morning snack. We go into the garden with the
children for outside activities. Back inside we gather into
a circle for group speaking and listening activities, helping
the children develop their social skills. We work with the children
and encourage them to use their imagination in a variety of
creative activities including dough play, crayons, paints, scissors
and reading. |
| Story time. Everyone
sits down to a nutritious and tasty lunch. We go outside with
the children to play with bats, balls and wheeled toys. Quiet
time where the children have the chance to take an afternoon
nap if they wish. We interact with the children as they enjoy
various creative activities, including collage, sand and water
play, cookery, construction toys. We return to the garden for
more outdoor play and the chance to develop their physical skills.
Tea time. The children are free to choose what to do next and
we interact with them as they play with floor and table toys,
dressing up, 'home corner' and books. We encourage the children
to take part in group activities to help with their social and
personal development. As parents arrive to collect their children
we give them feedback on their child's activities during the
day Nursery closes for the day. |
Pre-school
We welcome the children as they arrive at the pre-school and
encourage them in various 'settling' activities such as jigsaws,
games, home corner, dressing up, sand and water. The children
have a chance to take part in speaking and listening activities
to help them develop their social skills. The children have
their mid-morning snack. We go into the garden with the children
for outside activities. We explain to the children what they
will be doing throughout the day and what they will learn Activity
time for the Foundation Stage Curriculum. We interact and help
the children as they take part in Early Years' play activities,
including practical early mathematics, pre-reading skills and
