about us - our philosophy

In Clarence House Day Nursery we are guided by four principles:
A Unique Child – every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Positive Relationships – children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a nursery staff.
Enabling Environments – the environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
Learning and Development – children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.

We aim to provide children with a safe, secure, happy, healthy and stimulating environment. We offer a child-centred approach where children are encouraged to develop their creativity, individuality and self-confidence in secure surroundings, led by fully trained staff that has a real rapport with the children in their care.

Children need to feel a sense of security and belonging when they are away from their parents, and this is key to the philosophy of our nursery. We strive to ensure that all children feel happy, relaxed and safe, and encourage them to feel confident in co-operating and developing good relationships with the adults caring for them and with the other children in the group.

As part of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum we provide a wide range of appropriate learning materials and stimulating, high quality toys and activities, both indoors and outdoors. Children are provided with a varied, healthy diet, fresh air, exercise, rest and play, all contributing positively to their physical, emotional and educational development. Surrounded by their peers, they can develop at their own pace, play a full part in activities devised for their age, and enthusiastically learn new skills.

Every child is recognized and treated as an individual within Every Child Matters Framework. We work closely with parents to provide a level of care that meets the high standards you'd expect for your child.
